CHAPTER – 17 LIGHT
There was something quite odd and unaccountable about the pattern of my life.
On one side problems kept sprouting up in my family affairs. I used to feel puzzled for a while, then think hard, arrive at a clear conclusion, go ahead boldly and succeed in my endeavours.
Side by side with this, there was the philosophical inquiry which constantly absorbed me. At the back of my mind, this search for Truth went on without interruption. I discovered afresh every day the sense of orderliness in every incident, in every action and in the consequences of that action which we call the Law of Nature. This cleared my mind and a great serenity set in. I began to find increasing delight in such an occupation, as the days sped by.
In the beginning, my wife’s importunities regarding a second marriage had been a major worry for me. I put it by and attended to other pressing duties, in the hope that time would bring its own solution.
Having established myself firmly in the evolutionary theory of the five elements, I continued my researches in philosophy. I felt that my inner vision was becoming more and more clear. When I looked around the world of objects, I could see in everything the bunching of the five elements.
For a short while, I was not able to grasp clearly the nature of the energy particle state known in Indian philosophy as Akash. But even this became clear to me subsequently. I had read some articles earlier about the atom as known to Science and I had understood the atom to be the bunch action of the energy particles. I had also come to know that the atom was composed of neutron, proton, and electron. The natural corollary to this principle is that there must also be a stage when these composite units exist by themselves without joining together and becoming the atom. This stage of the independent existence of the energy particles that compose the atom is the Akash. When this principle became clear to me, I could easily visualize the entire Universe as an energy field where the energy particles are bunched together in various proportions and intensity. I understood that the scientist’s atom is merely a combination of the Akash particles and that their element value changed according to the total number of the component particles.I also understood that the various forms and objects that we cognise in the manifested world are only combinations of energy particles and pure space; when the proportion of pure space decreases in an object, the intensity of energy particles in that object increases; with the increase in intensity there are changes in pressure, sound, light, smell, and taste. On the basis of these differences in intensity, the same Akash is known as air, fire, water and earth. From this principle the question arose: If Akash is the basis of the entire universe what is the primordial state of Akash? In
other words, what is beyond Akash? As I knew that there is only pure space beyond Akash, I began examining the connection between Akash and pure Space. I spent a number of days meditating on this problem and slowly I understood the fundamental principle: Pure Space is the Truth, the primordial or the static state which is known as God; and its dynamic state is known as Akash. When I saw this manifestation of the Divine as a vision within me, the experience expressed itself in the form of a verse: “The primordial Truth is like the ocean And all the movements therein are like waves. Although they take countless shapes and forms, Each one different from the other They are never separated from the ocean. In and through the waves the ocean exists And in it all the waves get merged in the end. Likewise, all the movements and manifestations are but transient and they get merged in the one and only reality known as Truth”
I fully realized that Pure Space is the Eternal Truth which becomes the Mahakash in its manifested state. The same Mahakash becomes the five elements according to the degree of intensity of the component energy particles. The various objects perceived by our senses are only the association of atoms in varying proportions.
Earlier, I had a doubt as to how to accept the Eternal Void or the Infinite Space as the Omnipotent Truth.
