1. Breathing, Pranayama Techniques.
The guru will teach certain breathing techniques that involve a series of inhaling, hold and exhale steps in various yoga postures.
These pranayama techniques regulate the kundalini energy through various micro-cosmic circuits or called Nadis throughout the body.
Over many years of practice, the kundalini may awaken through the chakra points to the Ajna chakra or the third eye.
Only a trained kundalini yoga guru will be able to guide the aspirants.
There could be dangerous side effects to the awakening if not done under the guidance of an experienced guru. In modern times, there are very few such experienced gurus to guide aspirants.
2. Mantra techniques.
Very few gurus used to know specific mantras to awaken the kundalini. Different Mantras were known for meditating on various chakras in the body.
Similar to the pranayama techniques, mantra techniques also have their share of risks and side effects. They must be practiced under the careful guidance of the trained Kundalini master.
3. Transcendental techniques
Certain techniques were developed to transcend one’s mind into a higher plane through imagery or idol worship. Aspirants are asked to imagine an object of their choice or one chosen by the guru and asked to fixate one’s mind over it for a long period of time without wavering. Kundalini may awaken.
However, there could be dangerous side effects to it.
